Pillars Urban Hub, Preston for Truman Design & Build is a new build student accommodation project in the heart of Preston City Centre. The project boasts 425 self-contained studio apartments with en-suite bathrooms and kitchenettes, an outdoor and indoor space to meet and socialise, gym, cinema, laundry, library, and a landscaped roof terrace.
We were instructed on the project just as Covid hit. Our task was to support Truman through the pre-construction phase and provide bills of quantities and estimating/tendering resource. All work was done remotely with regular virtual meetings to ensure progress was maintained.
Given the market conditions throughout the pandemic, it was often challenging to get supply chain engagement and firm pricing. However, with the support of key supply chain partners we were able to assist Truman in developing a robust tender submission.
This project is one of many examples of how our collaboration with clients can reap rewards for all involved.
